We are the music makers... The dreamers of dreams...

Here’s to the meaning of life... just kidding. I have no idea what that is. But slowly I am realising that perhaps I'm here to or We’re here to create. Yes. Create. That is make things. Do things, move things, start things, sing songs, write poetry, manifest stories that will stand the test of time or write a blog that no one will read.

I figured, lots of people have babies, they get married and create love and in the process create other humans in the form of sons and daughters. They start families, and they make themselves known by going to work every single day and making their mark on the world by building a family.

In a way, we are always creating, always starting something and always moving towards a goal of everlasting immortality be it through a child, a relationship, a fledging dot com or the next iPhone or maybe even blowing up a building. That takes planning.

Maybe that’s the only way to keep me motivated too? I don't mean the family part just yet or blowing up a building... but the creation of something part. Maybe that’s why I’m always looking on the world of creation.

But what of my talents and skills? A few moons ago, I wanted to create a Paper like device so that I can read and consume text on e-paper, spent 2 years on it, nearly all my money and put it up on indiegogo which eventually became known as NextPaper....but alas that seems like an insurmountable task ahead not unlike climbing Mount Fuji with a broken leg. We only raised less than $10k out of the $100k we needed to produce it. BOO!

Perhaps I need to step back and downshift into 2nd gear. Maybe I need to focus on something else for now. It’s always hard slowing down specially when you are cruising on 5th and 6th gear thinking all is going so well with the breeze in your hair and enjoying the ride. It’s like hitting a brick wall at 90. Hurts like hell.

But I deicided to pick myself up. Scrape that bloody head from the wall, fix that broken heart *ahem* I mean legs, and move the fuck on. So... I decided to get a hobby firstly. A hobby of creation. Something easy and something I can get into quickly.

When Steve Jobs left (got painfully fired by) Apple, he put software and computing on hold alltogether and started looking at creating stories and movies - completely different from his Tech Centric thinking.  His thinking was that software can go out of style in a year or two like if Excel came out in 1995, you need to create a new version of Excel the year after in order to keep current with new features and new hardware compatibilities.  Unlike a good story which you only have to create once and it has the potential to last a lifetime.

His sidestep eventually led to the purchase of a little known struggling company called Pixar.(THANKS GEORGE LUCAS for having an expensive divorce! We may never have had Toy Story)

But what should I do?

I cant make a feature film just yet... I don't have 10 million dollars lying around (Pixar cost $5million + $5million of Steves money) and a decade of RandD. I don't really know how to partner with Disney either.

Hmm...

I haven’t picked up my guitar recently and I do love music. It's bit of an escape and therapy at the same time. And being filipino I do like to sing. Even though I don't like to admit it.

Ok I got it.

Here’s my plan.

I’m going to create music.

Yup.... Let's start with that.

I should list my bucket list here when its done (and not copy from Mandy Moore’s being in two places at once and witness a miracle list). But I'm pretty sure one of those things in that bucket list is to make music. Create an original song. I have no idea what form of music that is yet but I know I need to start picking up my guitar again and make music. I've been out of it for far too long.

First I need to buy a new guitar. The guitar that my grandpa left me (rest in peace Granpa you rock), is unforutunately a bit worse for wear. Although its very expensive and every guitar guy who sees it always comments on how rare and beautiful it is.

Ok I need a list of things to buy without breaking the bank.

So I went Shopping.

First I bought a guitar... lets start small. I NEED a new guitar. Only $169 for an awesome sounding steel string guitar. Great! So far so good. The good folks at Artist Guitar have quality guitars at unbelievable prices ( Disclosure: I'm not affiliated with them in any way).

Done bought that.

Next...

Let's buy an entire home studio system for recording and spend a thousand bucks on equipment including a $600 mic that Michael Jackson used for thriller. The Shure SM7B. BOOM.

A bit overboard? Nah. Let's follow my parents philosophy of  buying an expensive piano that no one knows how to play and hope for the best. My amazingly smart and talented sister Ada, evetnually did start playing.

Brush up on the guitar playing so book in some $80 an hour guitar lessons once a month or so.

Done.

Phew....ok now what? Shopping is hard work time to  procrastinate on youtube for awhile.

Wait a second!

Let’s start with covers. Yeah why not?

YouTube Covers.

Let's go full on and create YouTube covers. Boyce Avenue style....

ok maybe not Boyce Avenue but just start creating!

After all, as Willy Wonka once said: https://youtu.be/mrpBXxcJXTA

PEACE
